Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
